Pre-Arrest

Court Process
Emancipation
We do not dispense legal advice or legal services. What we do is provide individuals that need general help with navigating the often complex court process. The PACE program is free to the public servicing both pre-arrest and post conviction participants and is offered in both English and Spanish. In the model of traditional Participatory Defense programs PACE looks to provide support to people who are in the most vulnerable states in what is a complex justice system
Our program helps offenders complete court ordered requirements that fall under diversion programming.
Traditionally we have focused on a proactive approach instead of waiting to be reactive, after the fact. Our goal is to offer the necessary tools to help people make more constructive decisions, instead of the destructive behavior that eventually will lead them into the criminal justice system.
In this unfortunate circumstance we help people and their loved ones understand the process and provide general, but not legal assistance. Some examples are relaying public information to loved ones and interested parties. These services are offered to both the accused an the victims of the offenses.
From processing in to release we will be there every step of the way.
We provide support throughout all of the proceedings for all parties involved.
We are able to help provide more important information for the courts such as character reference letters and community impact statements to provide valuable tools to humanize the situation as much as possible.. The PACE program helps communicate and relay any public information to help the families stay informed and involved. Through our zoom meetings we offer a network for families going through the same situations to offer additional emotional support for the public. We can offer logistical information for both court dates and visiting information to help families learn how they can participate in both. Our program can also provide alternative diversion programming for suitable participants in lieu of incarceration for the courts consideration.
By definition emancipation if the fact or process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions. We assist with re-entry and re-acclimation back into society post incarceration.
Our program provides weekly support groups via zoom that focus on post incarceration syndrome (PICS) for participants of all levels. Along with life workshops we offer resume assistance, job seeking services, educational services, with the goal to reduce recidivism.
